Hi I am Lyra and this is my brother Skywalker.

I was named for the character in the Golden Compass and you guessed correctly, Sky is named for Luke Skywalker of Star Wars lore.

Our human family is Barbara, Greg, and Sophia.

We are Great Pyrenees dogs and we came from a ranch in Texas.

Our breed is hardwired to protect and hunt predators. We are known as livestock guardian dogs.

We will alert you with our loud barks when an intruder comes on our property.

A coyote, fox, bear, falcons and hawks are just some of the wildlife we have encountered in our yard.

We take our job seriously and you can think of us as Neighborhood Watch.

Spending time outdoors with lots of exercise is something we require and makes us happy. We are lucky to have two acres of property to roam. There's even a barn with bunnies who we treat with care.

Our "big barks" may frighten you, but, please know we are super friendly and love to cuddle.

Those "big barks" sometimes result in pet owners abandoning us. I hope people research our breed before making us part of their family.

I am 8-years old and Sky is 2-years old. I am definitely in charge at home and Sky is my sidekick. I weigh 106 pounds and big boy Sky is 130 pounds.

Our big fluffy coats require lots of maintenance. Our professional grooming costs about $150 each month.

I am a registered service dog and love to travel. I enjoyed hunting for seashells on the beach, visiting Florida and going for hikes.

Once on a hike, I started barking loudly. My family noticed the bushes shaking. What animal do you think I sniffed and discovered? A bear!

After a hike in the woods, I love to take a shower. It's my spa treatment!
